Am I too old for Pilates?

There is no age limit to the Pilates method. The Pilates classes will be adapted to suit any age or ability.

How often should I do Pilates?

Two or more times a week preferably. Like any form of exercise consistency is the key. Give your body a chance to build strength and stamina.

How soon will I see and feel the benefits of Pilates?

This depends on your own level of fitness and how often you practise Pilates. After a few sessions you should notice an improvement in your posture and feel your muscles working harder. Your core muscles will gain strength, your body will become more toned and you will feel the benefits of improved flexibility and mobility.

Is Pilates suitable for men?

Yes. The Pilates method was developed by Joseph Pilates. Footballers, athletes, tennis and golf players all reap the benefits of Pilates.

Will Pilates help me to lose weight?

Although Pilates is not aimed specifically at losing weight many people lose inches particularly from their stomach and legs. This is due to the toning effect it has which creates longer, leaner muscles.

What should I wear?

Something that allows your body to move freely. Close fitting yet comfortable clothes are best, to allow me to observe your body as you move.

If I have a back problem, is it safe to practice Pilates?

Pilates is extremely beneficial for people with many back problems. Before your first session any physical problems will be discussed with me confidentially. In some cases, and with your permission, I may liaise with your other healthcare providers.
